Virginia State School P&C are seeking a Canteen Convenor to manage the efficient and effective operations of our swimming club canteen. The canteen is run Friday evenings from 5.30 to 8.30pm 19 weeks per year and up to 6 times per year on a Saturday/Sunday for our home-hosted swimming carnivals primarily in term 1 and term 4.
About the role:
• As convenor, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Ordering stock and purchasing food and consumables
• Planning and managing menus for swimmers, parents and community
• Sales and cash handling via our square system
• End of term stocktakes
• Working independently as well as part of a small team of volunteers
• Organisation and rostering of volunteers with assistance from swimming club sub-committee
• Maintaining a clean, hygienic workspace
About you: To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:
• An ability to lead, plan, organise and control the operations of the swim club canteen including overseeing the volunteer roster, food preparation and supply.
• Competency to manage the financial and day-to-day operations of a busy swim club canteen which includes a cashless payment system.
• Organisational skills, initiative, and enthusiasm
• Excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
• Compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Practices to ensure that the tuckshop and equipment are operated and maintained in a safe and hygienic manner.
• Show a strong commitment to inclusion and community building, particularly with volunteers.
Preferred Applicant Criteria:
• Canteen and/or food service management experience
• Be able to work unsupervised.

Flexible attitude to their work environment

Be enthusiastic and motivated.
• Experience in engaging with students of various ages with respect and patience.
Prerequisites:
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
Comply with P & C Operating Guidelines, Policies and Procedures.
Hours/Conditions/Award:
This is a casual position with hours of work sufficient to enable the operation of the canteen during our swimming season.
Wages and conditions are subject to the Parents and Citizens Associations Award – State 2016.
